The Hot Wheels #Anniversary Series is back for 2025! The “pearl & chrome” moniker returns as 2025 pairs purple pearlescent paint with gold-chrome VUM. Thank you to Jcar Diecast for sponsoring this post and for supplying the case. I am super thankful for the sponsorship Jcar Diecast has provided. Make sure to shop Jcar Diecast this holiday season for all your diecast gift-giving needs!

The first mix of the #Anniversary Series for 2025 celebrates the 57th Anniversary of Hot Wheels — continuing on this themed basics series that started in 2018 for the brand’s 50th anniversary. Every mix contains 6 vehicles with one of them being the #Chase, which is limited to 1 per case of 24. If I had to categorize this mix, I’d say it’s sports cars versus off-road beasts as we get 3 vehicles on the “sporty side” and 3 vehicles that are definitely made for the rugged terrain.

Starting with the sports cars, we get two Hot Wheels original designs in the #D-Muscle and #Muscle and Blown. Of the two, the Muscle and Blown has definitely gained more of a following among collectors who like the unlicensed designs. The classic #’55 Corvette also falls under this grouping though it vastly deviates from the previous two.

The remaining three vehicles are all #Off-Road Vehicles. The #Volkswagen “Baja Bug” started off as a premium casting that was modified for basic use. We see that basics-level tooling here. The #’73 Jeep J10 is also a basics tooling, but this one definitely has a premium feel to it despite having not appeared in premium yet. I am still on the fence when it comes to collecting this one but it seems more and more likely that I am going to begin an official casting collection of it. Lastly, the #Baja Bison T5 was chosen as the gold-chrome #Chase here. The casting has only been out for a couple years but has not-so-quietly become a cult favorite. Its become a running joke in the Hot Wheels Collectors Facebook group and on Reddit to hoard these pegwarmers, and some collectors have began to express how much the actually like it, and have begun doing so — showing off their hoards. It will be fun to see how this chase-car scenario plays out on social media. I actually think this electric Dakar Rally style truck is a pretty cool original design and I would love nothing more than to see a huge collector appreciation for it!

The #Anniversary Series series is NOT available at big-box stores like Walmart and Target, and is typically available only at grocery and drug stores. Ordering a case from Jcar Diecast will net you a complete set of 6, plus some extras to share with your collector friends or kids. A case is $40 plus shipping (in the U.S.) so divided by the 24 vehicles in a case, that comes out to $1.67 each — which is pretty much less than the standard retail price which can vary depending on where you find. Below is a link for you to order your own case. I unboxed one of these 24-count cases on the OTD YouTube Channel, and have a full #Case Report for you here.
