Hot Wheels #Car Culture for 2024 concludes with the 5th installment of Modern Classics (FPY86-E case). This time, we are introduced to three brand-new castings, and two brand-new looks to two collector favorites.

The attention-grabber in this mix is the #Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) Pandem — which also has a black chase variant. This wild, new casting is based off the 1:1 Rocket Bunny Racing creation which features the same, insane Pandem widebody aero kit and graphics as the 1:1 in Formula Drift.

Typically, the releases in the previous four mixes have been very clean — free of graphics. The rest of the cars in this mix follow suit as it’s those body lines that really make these vehicles Modern Classics.

You may not be familiar with a Nissan SilEighty, and that’s okay. The popular mash-up of a 180SX with a Silvia front is a Frankenstein’d vehicle that was never made by Nissan. It is a product of car culture so it’s only fitting to see it debut in the Hot Wheels line of the same name.

A personal favorite in this mix is the Subaru Forester STi. It is based off a 2005 Forester judging by the front end — the best front-end Subaru ever made. While I may not be a huge fan of wagons, I know others are, and this slammed wagon has a little bit of a rake that certainly gives it some personality.

Another Skyline in the #Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNCR33) makes an appearance in this mix. This one is also white but goes the GReddy route with sponsor badging over the rear quarter-panel.

Lastly, the car that launched the first #Car Culture / Modern Classics mix in 2017 into prominence returns for the 5th installment. The #Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II get a raw-metal, polished #ZAMAC look that shows off this casting’s fine lines and aero kit. This release already shoots up to the top of favorites for this casting — it’s that good!

I unboxed one of these 10-count Modern Classics cases on the OTD YouTube Channel, and have a full #Case Report for you here. Onto 2025! 1 Stop Diecast appears to be sold out of this mix, so get your orders in for Hammer Drop which kicks off 2025 Car Culture.

Hot Wheels #Car Culture cases (FPY86) contain only 10 vehicles, unlike Hot Wheels basics cases which have 72. In this mix, you are guaranteed to get all 5 cars in the series. There are two variants of the case — with or without chase piece. In a standard case (without chase) you will get two of each vehicle. In a case with a chase, you will have the chase piece inserted for the second piece of its casting counterpart.

Below you’ll find the case list — all of which are seen in this video above and in the images below.

  2. ’90 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II
